Overview

Commenced my Arboricultural studies at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, where the course syllabus and in-house training allowed me to achieve my RFS Certificate in Arboriculture. My interest in Arboriculture has grown since 1989 when I became a member, and now a Fellow, along with gaining CEnv through the Association. My roots in Arboriculture lie in Horticulture, an obvious statement, but I believe this is important to consider each tree as a plant and recognise its condition in relation to all aboitic and biotic stimuli. Initially I was a contract arborist from 1995-2000 carrying out a range of tree surgery and felling operations. I have developed my skills as an aborist and as a chartered landscape architect to develop a process in preparing BS5837:2012 Tree surveys with my drawing skills and spatial development skills, this with my knowledge of the TPO legislation in Scotland and my involvement in preparing Planning Applications, I am best placed to provide a high level landscape, planning and tree care reporting process. I have been involved in carrying out tree surveys for 30 years. I recently achieved the Professional Tree Inspection Certificate, however, there is no substitute for experience and an enquiring mind. I have prepared over 50 tree survey reports and recently a number of Expert Witness reports. I feel I have the skills and professionalism to become a registered consultant and an ambassador for the Arboricultural Association.
