Overview

I began work in arboriculture in 2002 as a groundsman in North Wales. I gained my NPTC accreditations from 2002 - 2005 inclusive whilst working as a climber. In January 2006 I emigrated to New Zealand and continued working as a climber in Auckland. In 2008 I enrolled in an arb degree program at Myerscough which I completed via correspondence in 2011 with distinction. Since 2011 I have been a consulting arborist in Auckland, New Zealand. I have QTRA and VALID qualifications. In 2016 i commenced a Ph.D. qualification at the University of Canterbury which I completed in 2019. The Ph.D. research involved three root pruning investigations in New Zealand and in Florida, USA, and yielded five publications in academic journals as well as invitations to present at conferences in Europe, USA, New Zealand and Australia.
